Atheism United seeks to create the largest support network for atheism (and its many groups) online. Our first project will be an outreach that brings new atheists into the fray. This page will lay the groundwork for the largest database of atheist sites ever compiled in one place. An ad campaign will target sites where there are atheists, but they aren't as likely to know there is a huge atheist community on the internet. When users click the advertisement they will be directed to a page explaining all of the different atheist organizations. Somewhere connected to it will be this list. Make sure to check the tips section !

Tips:

  • Make your list of sites in notepad on the side, then add them into the wiki at one time. This avoids editing a page someone else is editing, and overlapping.
  • Edit the section instead of the entire article. Two people can edit two different sections within the same article and not overlap, but if two people edit the entire article and change the same two different sections, their changes will overlap.
  • Don't be scared of making lots of small edits in sections to put one in at a time.
  • Many groups will fit more than one category. Put the site into the ONE category it most fits into... HOWEVER...
  • many sites specialize in something but also have a community (message board). Since a goal is to foster community we want to highlight those sites and therefore will list them twice. In the communities section and in the section they fit most.
  • please use the full http:// format along with a site name AFTER the url
  • This list will eventually be alphabetical by name of org. If you can start to keep some semblance of alphabetical order, that is helpful.
  • Don't list facebook pages, myspace pages, or other social networks.
  • Twitter is ok, hopefully the top 200 or so atheists on twitter.
  • Sites with domain names can be listed down to near obscurity.
  • If you think the admin has updated the site in the last 6-12 months and you think it adds something to the conversation of who atheists are... then add it.
  • If you feel it's real obscure, create a new category for obscure, maybe we'll find more like it later.
  • If the page is a single page, and it makes a rant against religion. Put it in blasphemy.

* please just edit your category, and do it fast, or save your work to your clipboard before hitting submit. * A <br> tag is needed at the end of every line.

UnitedCor

The entire unitedcor list needs to be added into it's own category there are about 50 groups:
http://unitedcor.org/national/page/home#

Someone at UnitedCor may be nice enough to have a list if you email them. You could try [email protected]

For that matter the same goes for other orgs. Someone could try David Silverman on facebook for a list of American Atheists groups... maybe CFI groups as well. Those can all get put on a local page later.
